Throwback:
Apart from the university council meetings at the UT, UReka also works hard to make your message heard at the higher level! Via a strong connection with the ISO (national platform for participatory councils in higher education) and LSVB (national student union), UReka reaches out to national politics and participates in important discussions and debates relevant to our education system to make ourselves heard.
Apart from attending the meetings of ISO regularly, giving continuous input, we also go beyond the regular meetings and did this in multiple ways over the course of last year. Like being involved in Coalition Y:
25-02-’19 – “Last Friday, Leon was in the House of Representatives to participate on behalf of Interstedelijk Studenten Overleg – ISO and UReka to the kickstart of #CoalitieY! An initiative by the ChristenUnie and 7 youth organisations, including ISO, to improve the position of adolescents in Dutch society. Report by RTL (Dutch)”
We also attended an interesting debate in the Senate on selection criteria, the study loan system, and internationalisation.
01-03-’19 – “Is selection a good method to determine the students for higher education? Do international students have a positive impact on education? Today, Leon & Johanneke were guest at the VVD-LSVb education café in the Dutch senate, where these statements were actively debated.”
And, most recently, sparked up a ministerial conference on the strategic agenda of higher education!
27-03-’19 – “Last Monday, our faction member Leon was present at the conference of the Ministerie van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap! The conference was the kick-off of the strategic agenda for higher education in the Netherlands. Among the executive directors and policy makers, we, as students, could deliver extensive input!”
Next week a meet-up with SURF is on the agenda and one of the last ISO meetings. Stay posted while we do our best representing you!
